The original Toad Hall, built c. 1828 has been renovated by two accomplished interior decorators, based in New York City. The grounds are graced by extensive lawns and plantings. A gracious hand-laid stone wall welcomes you to the property. Elegant circular columns accent the front entrance, while comfortable patio furniture invites you to sit, relax and enjoy. Hand painted murals in the bathrooms and kitchens add a whimsical flair; they reflect the decorator’s love of animals and history. The current owner is the great, great grandson of Dan Brouthers, the greatest hitter in baseball from 1871 – 1893, who was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945.
The owners’ beautiful antiques create a tasteful and user-friendly atmosphere. This is an ideal choice for 2 families to share. There is a king-sized bed in each of two of the bedrooms, while the third bedroom has a built-in double and the fourth bedroom has 4 twin beds. The quality restoration maintained the vintage wood floors and moldings. This home has central air and contemporary baths and kitchen for your comfort. A den complete with a large sectional couch and a 42" flat screen (with a built-in PS-3) is located in the finished stone basement level. Bring your favorite PS-3 games.
A very large game room, including air hockey and ping-pong tables is located in a separate building. A basket ball hoop is also available. Trails are available for jogging or walking.
Your hosts live in a separate area, totally private from your lodging. They are close by if you need any assistance. The hosts invite guests to share in the use of their heated in-ground swimming pool. You are invited to use the rowboat to fish in their private pond. Check out the photo in the left column to verify the size of the fish there. Oaks Creek which borders the property also provides great fishing. Choose this quality home for your stay in the Cooperstown area; it is about a 10-minute ride to the Cooperstown Dreams Park or Cooperstown.
